Destinations, formerly Wider Opportunities or Wider Ops, are events for individual older Girl Scouts from around the United States. Most Destinations are held within the United States, though each year there are a few trips abroad, such as to allow participants to be part of the US delegation to another country's national jamboree, or to visit one of the international Girl Scouting centers. Destinations might be outdoor oriented, such as kayaking in Alaska, or career oriented such as learning about working for NASA.

What are the top holiday destinations in America?
Q. Which cities would be best as holiday destinations? New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas? I was thinking Los Angeles because of Hollywood and stuff, but I've also always wanted to go to New York and Vegas. Where else is good? Also - and forgive my horrible geography - but how far away are these cities from each other? How long does it take to travel between these 3 cities, and how can I travel to and from (like train, etc.)? I really want to visit all 3 cities in the one trip, hopefully without racking up a huge debt...any way you can travel cheaply?

A. The other answers are correct and Los Angeles & Las Vegas are fairly close (about 275 miles apart by road), but New York is 2700 miles from LA. You don't say where you live, but there are non-stop flights from several cities in Europe to LAX. You could buy a ticket to Las Vegas with the connection at LAX, and do the Los Angeles portion of your trip as a "stopover", either going or returning. Stopovers are normal and many fares allow one (1) at no extra charge - you just have to ask when you make the reservation. If you decide to visit both coasts during one trip, consider getting an "open jaw" ticket that would allow you to fly to LA and home from NY (or the reverse). You then take other transportation between the two cities, possibly… [cont.]
