Dragons are legendary creatures, typically with serpentine or otherwise reptilian traits, that feature in the myths of many cultures.

The two most familiar interpretations of dragons are European dragons, derived from various European folk traditions and ultimately related to Greek and Middle Eastern mythologies, and the unrelated Chinese dragon. The English word "dragon" derives from Greek δράκων (drákōn), "dragon, serpent of huge size, water-snake", which probably comes from the verb δρακεῖν (drakeîn) "to see clearly".

What are the answers to these dragon questions?
Q. 1) Are dragons popular in Egyptian hieroglyphs? If so, what are their roles? Are they replaceable with crocodiles, or do they have their own individuality? 2) Do dragons have tusks? I think the Chinese dragon does, but I am not sure about the Western dragon (the primary one given evil associations). Please help, thanks in advance.

A. 1. There is a dragon serpent Apep that created the world according to Egyptian Mythology. Also according to myth, Apep acts the Sun that rises but sets when it is killed by the Gods. It later comes back to life to repeat the cycle of day and night. 2. Chinese dragons don`t have tusks but they do have whiskers. Lastly may be my opinion, but I don`t think European Dragons are evil just because some medieval popes said so. I think it should be respected like in Asian culture.

How long does it take for a bearded dragon to digest its food and poop?
Q. How long does it take for a bearded dragon to digest its food and poop? I just hand fed my bearded dragons small slices of apple. I chopped the top part of the apple off with a knife and sliced that into small pieces. I stopped feeding him when he started to ignore the food.

A. I assume you feed him more than apples, dragons need protein - crickets or pellet food. I have fed mine pellets for many years. They do not poop everyday unless it is really warm and they are active. It usually takes a few days and can take up to a week depending on their appetite and the heat. They need a basking spot close to 100 degrees to help with digestion. In the winter when it is colder in the house (even with lights) mine will hibernate for a few weeks and generally eat less. To stimulate the poop, you can put the dragon in some warm (not hot) water. Not too deep so they won't drown, mine kind of swims and floats but she is grown. Leave them in for 10 minutes or so and they usually poop. Take them out before it gets too… [cont.]

How to handel a Bearded Dragon who seems scared to be held?
Q. I read that its normal for a baby bearded dragon to be afraid to be held. Mine is young no bigger than the length of your hand. We have had him for 6 weeks and seems to be doing fine except when you try to hold or touch him. How can we get him to be friendlier and how can i get him to trust us so we can hold him?

A. Handle him each day for about 10minutes. The more he gets use to your scent, the more relaxed he'll become. They very rarely will bite, but will hiss and growl with an open mouth. Never get scared because they will sence that and you'll freak them out. Babys are always jumpy and a little scared. The key is to hold them every day, a little at a time. They are full grown at 10 months so you want to get a good bond with him/her by then. Full grown ones are very calm and actually will crave your attention. Since it is a baby, handle it like one. I'm sure after a month it will relax more. Hope this helps!<3
