From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. Fishing is the activity of catching fish. Fish are normally caught in the wild. Techniques for catching fish include hand gathering, spearing, netting, angling and trapping. The term fishing may be applied to catching other aquatic animals such as shellfish, cephalopods, crustaceans, and echinoderms. The term is not usually applied to catching aquatic mammals, such as whales, where the term whaling is more appropriate, or to farmed fish. In addition to providing food, modern fishing is also a recreational sport. According to FAO statistics, the total number of fishermen and fish farmers is estimated to be 38 million. Fisheries provide direct and indirect employment to an estimated 200 million people. In 2005, the worldwide per capita consumption of fish captured from wild fisheries was 14.4 kilograms, with an additional 7.4 kilograms harvested from fish farms. From Wikipedia under the
GNU Free Documentation License What is the best way to catch fish surf fishing at Myrtle Beach at the end of February? Q. I am headed to Myrtle Beach for just a couple days... I am a freshwater fisherman but would really like to do some surf fishing while there. Normally I would want to target a certain type of fish but since my stay will be so short, I just want to catch some, any kind, of fish. What are my best odds? Asked by Phen - Wed Feb 25 21:06:21 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. Surf Fishing is all about targeting fish that make a living from food that is stirred up by the waves, and tide movement. These fish often dig in the sand or mud for crabs etc. Essentially scavengers! You need to be able to cast your line approx 40-50 yards, or behind the breaking waves if possible. A local tackle shop might be able to advise you on the best sinker to attach to your line, as the sinker does most of the work when casting out. Do a search on You Tube as well. What is the best bait to use when fishing in the everglades 2. What is the best type of fish to fish for Asked by jn - Mon Jul 21 18:00:10 2008 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. Large shiners. The best fish to fish for would be the Bass. They get pretty big out here and double digit bass is the norm. Use a float or free line them near structure ( Lilly pads, logs, sunken trees, etc.) and hold on tight. I have to tell ya, large shiners are a bit expensive ( depending on area, can run up to 12 bucks a dozen) but worth the money for a memory of a lifetime.~good luck catchin'. Answered by Chimp dancer - Mon Jul 21 23:02:23 2008 How do you get fishing bait to sink down further?
Q. I am a beginner at fishing, and I had trouble las time getting the fishing bait to sink more into the water; even with a weight, the bait would only sink down a few feet, whereas the fish inhabited lower waters and wouldn't approach the surface. What is advised in this situation? Asked by The Waffle - Tue Jun 30 21:51:35 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. other than having insufficient line to reach the bottom, l can't possibly think of any reason your sinker can't take the bait down. are you fishing in a river with a fast current? find a spot of slack water. deeper holes, wide spots or below current obstructions like wing dams or big rocks.
